Freddo espressoΦρέντο Εσπρέσο
A freddo espresso is an iced coffee made from a double shot of espresso, spun with ice until it turns cold and builds a dense, creamy foam on top. It is served black, over ice, with no milk. We make it the traditional way in all three LaBarista shops in Limassol.
How we make it. We spin it, we never shake it. Spinning (Greek: χτυπάω) whips air through the espresso and ice to build the thick, stable foam a freddo is known for; a shaker cannot make that texture. This is the detail that separates a real freddo from a plain iced espresso.
Bold and clean, with a bittersweet espresso body and a smooth, foamy top. Order it plain, medium, or sweet.
Vs an iced latte: A freddo espresso is black coffee over ice with a spun foam and no milk. An iced latte is espresso poured over cold milk. If you want milk in your freddo, order a freddo cappuccino instead.
- Is LaBarista's freddo spun or shaken?
- Spun, never shaken. We spin the espresso with ice (Greek: χτυπάω) to build the dense foam a freddo needs. A shaker cannot make that texture.
- Does a freddo espresso have milk?
- No. A freddo espresso is served black over ice. If you want milk, order a freddo cappuccino, which adds a layer of cold milk foam on top.
- Can I get a freddo with oat or other milk?
- A freddo espresso is milk-free by design. For a milky version choose a freddo cappuccino, which we can make with oat, soya, coconut, almond or lactose-free milk.
Freddo cappuccinoΦρέντο Καπουτσίνο
A freddo cappuccino is a freddo espresso finished with a thick layer of cold, airy milk foam (Greek: αφρόγαλα). It is the milky version of the freddo espresso: iced and spun, then topped with cold foam rather than served black. Made the same traditional way across all three LaBarista shops in Limassol.
How we make it. Spun, not shaken. We spin the double espresso with ice for the base, then crown it with cold milk foam. The spinning (χτυπάω) is what gives both the coffee and the foam their body.
Smoother and creamier than a freddo espresso, with the cold foam softening the coffee. Available with oat, soya, coconut, almond or lactose-free milk.
Vs a freddo espresso: A freddo espresso is black; a freddo cappuccino adds a cold milk foam on top. Same spun base, one has milk.
- Is the freddo cappuccino spun or shaken?
- Spun, never shaken. Both the espresso base and the way we build the drink rely on spinning (χτυπάω), not a shaker.
- Can I have a freddo cappuccino with alternative milk?
- Yes. We make it with oat, soya, coconut, almond or lactose-free milk.
Flat white
A flat white is a small, strong milk coffee: espresso under a thin layer of steamed milk and fine microfoam, in a smaller cup than a latte. The higher coffee-to-milk ratio keeps it stronger and less milky than a latte.
How we make it. We pour steamed milk with a glossy, fine microfoam over the espresso so the coffee stays in front rather than being softened by a lot of milk.
Strong and smooth, coffee-forward with a silky texture. Works with oat, soya, coconut, almond or lactose-free milk.
Vs a latte: A flat white is smaller and stronger than a latte. A latte has more steamed milk and a lighter coffee flavour; a flat white keeps the espresso in front.
- What is the difference between a flat white and a latte?
- A flat white is smaller, stronger, and less milky. A latte has more steamed milk and a lighter coffee taste; a flat white keeps the espresso forward.
- Can I get a flat white with oat milk?
- Yes. We make it with oat, soya, coconut, almond or lactose-free milk.
Homemade pieΣπιτικό
Our pies are homemade (Greek: σπιτικό) and baked fresh through the day, made in-house rather than bought in. They are one of the things regulars come back for, and they pair with a coffee for a quick, savoury bite.
How we make it. Made in-house, not bought in. That is the whole point of a σπιτικό pie: our own pastry and filling, baked fresh rather than delivered frozen.
Flaky, golden pastry with a generous, savoury filling. Best warm, with a coffee. Ask the team for today's options.
- Are LaBarista's pies homemade?
- Yes. Our pies are homemade (σπιτικό), made in-house and baked fresh through the day rather than bought in frozen.
- What pies do you have today?
- The range is baked fresh daily and can vary by shop, so ask the team for the day's options.
